This amazing Caucasian kilim was woven in Shirvan at the end of the 19th century in two pieces as opposed to the majority of the kilims belonging to the same family. Its plethora of colors, the densely woven small size motifs and the two vertical strands running vertically through the middle with the “ellie belinde” motif, make it look more than a Turkish Kayseri kilim, from which most probably it has been inspired. Its wonderful color balance adds to its charm, making it a very decoratively desirable item.
