Situated in the north western sea coast of Turkey, Panderma, although it is an ancient city, carpet wise, it is not older than the middle of the 19th century. Nevertheless, the rugs made there, carry the long Turkish tradition, which justifies their very fine weave. Especially the few surviving silk pieces, are the most famous ones, bearing a fine quality of silk and an unusual palette and design repertoire.
The present finely knotted example, besides bearing a beautiful Safavid design, presents one exceptional color scheme with superb color shades, perfectly arranged in such a small space.
In excellent condition, with some of the darker colors corroded, a definite sign of good old age.
