Chinese carpets with gold ground and especially with the “Lotus” motif, are rare. This mid -19th century piece is exceptional in every respect. Namely, the quality of the colors and shades, the open design drawn with very fine lines, the meander guard border, the wonderful floral main border, the fine weave and the silky quality of the wool in coordination with its ample size, justify the term masterpiece. A highly decorative piece which will compliment any style in the decoration spectrum, from classical to modern.
